Men's Waterproof Hiking Jacket Review — Hands-On Test & Verdict
Our Verdict
Best value waterproof jacket for all-season hiking. Exceptional waterproofing and breathability at a mid-range price point.
Full Review
After testing the AlpinePro Waterproof Jacket across three seasons of mountain hiking, we can confidently say it delivers performance that rivals jackets costing twice as much. The 3-layer construction with 20,000mm waterproof rating held up perfectly during a 6-hour rainstorm in the Rockies. What impressed us most was the breathability — even during a steep 2,000ft ascent, we never felt clammy inside. The pit zips are a game-changer for temperature management. The adjustable hood cinches down tight enough to keep wind and rain out while maintaining peripheral vision. Our only gripe is the weight; at 450g it is not the lightest option for ultralight backpackers, but for most hikers the durability and protection justify the extra grams.
