Full Review
Softshell pants occupy a sweet spot in the hiking world — more protective than trekking pants, more breathable than hardshells. The AlpinePro Women's Softshell Pants nail this balance. During our testing on rocky trails in Utah, the 4-way stretch fabric proved its worth on high-step scrambles where traditional pants would have restricted movement. The DWR coating handled light drizzle for about 30 minutes before wetting out, which is typical for softshells. The articulated knees and reinforced ankle cuffs show thoughtful design — after 50+ miles of testing, the cuffs show zero wear despite constant contact with hiking boots. The thigh pockets are perfectly positioned for GPS devices or energy bars. Just size up if you plan to layer thermal leggings underneath.
